Achievements

What We Achieved in Just One Year
Since being elected in the 2024 by-election, we focused on stability, momentum, and results. Here’s what we delivered together in the past year:
- Stronger Schools & Learning
- New schools moving ahead: Construction funding secured for a K–9 public school; planning funds secured for a public high school.
- Opening this fall: Franco-Sud School.
- Catholic K–9 underway: Construction has begun.
- Smarter growth: Municipal Development Plan (MDP) passed second reading (final approval expected Fall 2025) and now requires school sites in Phase 1, ensuring they’re built—not left as loam piles.
- Library support: Helped raise funds at the Mayor & Council Charity Golf Tournament and continue to push for a bigger, modern library.
- Recreation & Community Spaces
- New Rec Centre progress: Land acquired at Dawson’s Landing (13 acres) for a multi-use regional facility (pool, walking track, wellness, gym, indoor play, full-size field, meeting rooms, and outdoor sports amenities).
- Old Rec Centre site: Purchase agreement secured for the lands.
- Parks & lakeshore: Sunset Beach paving begins now.
- Safe, Connected Infrastructure
- Twinning 17th Ave / Chestermere Blvd: Announced June 2025; developer-front-ended; design in 2025, construction starts 2026.
- Rainbow Road North: Repaving & reopening completed in 2025.
- Safer streets: Raised crosswalks near schools approved for 2025; cameras installed at major intersections.
- Transit: Feasibility study approved to move from planning to action.
- Responsible Finances
- Stable, low taxes: Mill rate held at 3.25%, among the lowest in Alberta.
- Jobs, Investment & Partnerships
- Beacon Data Centre: A $4B investment bringing 1,200 construction jobs and ~300 permanent jobs, positioning Chestermere as a technology and innovation hub.
- Stronger relationships: Rebuilt Chestermere’s reputation and established productive partnerships with provincial ministers and neighbouring municipalities to accelerate funding, approvals, and advocacy.
