Volunteering

I am a dedicated mother to a 6-year-old daughter, a supportive wife, and a driven
businesswoman residing in Chestermere since 2007. Alongside my husband, I cofounded a licensed tutoring centre called “AG Tutoring” in Calgary. Our commitment to education led us to establish this centre, providing valuable academic support to students in our community.
Beyond my professional endeavours, I am deeply engaged in community activities,
actively involved since my arrival in Chestermere. My passion lies in lending a helping hand to those in need, a commitment that has become a cornerstone of my life. Recognizing the challenges faced by Punjabi-speaking seniors due to language
barriers, I have taken on the role of bridging the gap between them and the city of
Chestermere. Through my advocacy and efforts, I strive to ensure that language is not a barrier to accessing essential services and resources, fostering inclusivity and empowerment within the community. My journey as a mother, wife, businesswoman, and community advocate is driven by a desire to make a positive impact in the lives of those around me, embodying the values of compassion, dedication, and service.

  • City of Chestermere- Volunteer
  • Chestermere Welcoming and Inclusive Committee-Volunteer

As a dedicated volunteer with the City of Chestermere, I play an active role in organizing numerous community events, contributing to the vibrant fabric of our city’s social landscape. During the challenging times brought forth by the COVID-19 pandemic, I stepped up to assist the city in effectively communicating with our Punjabi- speaking citizens. Leveraging my bilingual proficiency, I translated all of the city’s promotional and informational brochures into Punjabi, ensuring that important updates and resources were accessible to all residents. Moreover, I served as a vital bridge

between the city and the Punjabi-speaking community, working tirelessly to break down language barriers and foster a sense of inclusivity. In addition to translation efforts, I undertook the task of converting surveys into Punjabi, thereby encouraging greater participation from Punjabi-speaking individuals and amplifying their voices within our city’s decision-making processes. Through these initiatives, I remain committed to promoting diversity, accessibility, and community engagement within Chestermere.

During my tenure as a committee member with the Chestermere Welcoming and Inclusive Committee since 2018, I played an integral role in advancing initiatives

focused on cultivating a warm, inclusive atmosphere within our community. Through collaborative efforts with fellow committee members, I contributed to the development and implementation of programs designed to embrace diversity and promote a sense of belonging among residents. By actively participating in discussions, organizing events, and engaging with community members, I worked towards creating an environment where all individuals feel valued and respected. My dedication to fostering inclusivity has left a lasting impact on the fabric of our community, reflecting my commitment to building a welcoming space for everyone.
